Parque Clara Clara

The Parque Clara, or Clara Clara, is one of my favorites in Lisbon. It's not very large, but it's pleasant, somewhat of a hidden gem, and offers incredible views.
It's also right above where the Feira da Ladraflea market takes place, and very close to the National Pantheon. It's truly one of those city secrets that, if I don't tell you about it, nobody else will.
The park has a classic Lisbon kiosk bar — a «quiosque» — where you can take in the Tagus River in all its glory, along with a small playground for the little ones that, while not very large, the kids absolutely love. At the kiosk you can order classic Portuguese sweets — we HIGHLY recommend the «queijadas» and the «chás (tés) frios» (cold fruit teas) made with red berries.
The park's flora is typically Lisbon in character, featuring large African palm trees and local flowers. A true beauty — anyone who knew Lisbon before will agree with me that this is a paradise reclaimed.
The real name of this park, though many people don't know it, is Jardim Boto Machado. And it's located right next to the neighborhood of Alfama.
