Gulbenkian Modern Collection
Modern Art Centre – Calouste Gulbenkian Collection
The Calouste Gulbenkian Modern Collection is housed in its own building, known as the Lisbon Modern Art Centre, to the south of the gardens of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and just a few steps from its older sibling, the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum.
The CAM was created in 1983 to house thousands of works of art by major Portuguese and international artists. It is displayed in a building designed by architect Sir Leslie Martin.
What to See at the Lisbon Center of Modern Art
The collection brings together Portuguese artists from throughout the 20th century, as well as other artists connected to the Portuguese world in one way or another.
It includes pieces of contemporary painting, sculpture, and installations. Here you will find the work of artists such as Amadeo Souza Cardoso, Almada Negreiros, and Paula Rego.
It offers a diverse program of temporary and rotating exhibitions, as well as educational initiatives.
Within the premises there is a bookshop and a restaurant.

Visit the Neighbor: Gulbenkian
Of course, you can't miss visiting the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum as well — more than just a neighbor, it is the main building of this complex. There, you can admire one of the largest private collections in Europe: Islamic, Egyptian, Greek, Asian, and European art, all in one place.
