Located on Rua dos Fanqueiros, a free public elevator has begun operating, connecting the Baixa local to Lisbon with quick access to one of the most important landmarks in Lisbon, the São Jorge Castle.
There are other nearby attractions close to the Castle that are well worth taking the elevator for.
But let's get to the point: until now, tourists could reach Lisbon's castle on foot, by Tram 28 and 12 or by taking Bus 737. For the past couple of summers, you can also choose to use this elevator in combination with the other elevator located in the former Mercado do Chão do Loureiro, this way you will quickly find yourself on "Costas do Castelo" street at the foot of the castle.

The elevator is located at numbers 170/178 on the street known as Rua dos Fanqueiros, right in front of Largo Adelino Amaro da Costa. Very close to where many hotels and hostels in Lisbon are located.
It operates every day from 09:00 to 21:00.
