The weather in Lisbon is generally warm. Although it can get very
hot during the summer, it is common for temperatures to cool down in the afternoon, thanks to the city's location on the Atlantic coast.
On the other hand, winter temperatures rarely drop below 7 degrees Celsius.
It is worth noting, however, that it rains quite a lot in winter. (The climate in Lisbon needs to balance out the heat of the summer and spring seasons).
Things we recommend for any time of year, regardless of the weather:
- A sweater or pullover
Even in summer (with highs of 30–35 degrees), the nights can be cool (15–20 degrees) - Sunglasses
There is always plenty of sunshine. Sunglasses are never a bad idea.
What is the best time to visit Lisbon?
In a word: all year round. Thanks to its mild climate, Lisbon is a special destination you can escape to at any time.

Atlantic that often batters the city: a terrible combination if you are not dressed appropriately.
Tips: If you are visiting at this time of year, we strongly recommend bringing a good waterproof jacket and packing a spare pair of trousers in your bag. It is best to leave the umbrella at home, as the strong gusts — known as "nortadas" (northerly winds) — that blow through the city make them practically useless.

The coldest days of the year usually fall between December and January. However, the lows tend to be higher than in cities like Madrid, rarely dropping below 5 degrees. Highs are also quite generous, typically reaching 15–17 degrees.
Tips: We recommend visiting even at this time of year. If you are lucky, you might catch a few days in December with surprisingly mild lows of 10–12 degrees.
Weather in Spring

Spring is a special time in Portugal — and for good reason. Spring, in April, brings the jacaranda trees. These trees have been planted throughout the city and paint Lisbon in stunning shades of purple. The wonderful weather in April and May draws the first wave of visitors to stroll along the beaches and through the city's varied neighborhoods.
Tips: The downside of the beautiful jacarandas and other local trees is that they can trigger a lot of allergies, so we recommend taking the necessary precautions beforehand.
